In 2023, Volkswagen’s full electric vehicle (BEV) sales rose 21.1% compared to 2022. Overall, Volkswagen sales were up 6.7%, so you can see that BEV sales grew much more strongly than non-BEV sales. (Note that we’re talking about the Volkswagen brand here, not Volkswagen Group.) In volume terms, Volkswagen reached 394,000 BEV sales in 2023, compared to 4.87 million total sales. That means that 8.1% of the brand’s sales were BEV sales. “The delivery figures…

Tesla has slashed prices on its official car wrap color selection and added a new ‘Satin Abbyss Blue’ for Model 3 and Model Y. After years of teasing, Tesla decided to release its own ‘color paint protection film’, which is more commonly known as a wrap, late last year. The automaker has been known for having a limited choice of paint colors on its electric vehicles. It led many owners to go to third-parties for wraps. Since October, Tesla is now offering its own wraps done by official Tesla installers. We noted that they were quite expensive when they launched…

When car companies show off outlandish concept cars, it’s often tough to distinguish fact from fiction—to parse out what’s purely a design exercise versus what’s actually headed to production.  Those questions were top of mind as Honda pulled the wraps off of two futuristic electric concepts on Tuesday at CES in Las Vegas. At a press conference, Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe cleared up some of the confusion.  “A production model, based very close on this concept, will come first to the US and then around the world in 2026,” he said, referring to a long, sleek concept called the Saloon. …

At CES on Monday, Kia unveiled a snazzy new lineup of electric commercial vehicles designed for ride-hailing, logistics and the like. The World Bank says small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) represent 90% of businesses globally. So, it’s safe to say that if we don’t get mid-sized companies on board, the energy transition won’t happen. Saying might be easier than doing. SMEs have big hoops to jump through if they want to procure renewable energy. Their volume requirements are small; their consumption profile might be a poor fit for intermittent generation; some might simply lack the skills…

Against the backdrop of CES in Las Vegas, Honda provided a first look at its 0 Series (Zero Series) electric vehicles set to launch in 2026—in the form of two new head-turning EV concepts.  The two concept vehicles, called Saloon and Space-Hub, are a racy-looking, kammback-profile car and a taller, more upright van or wagon—both built on a man-maximum/machine-minimum approach with an emphasis on thin, light, and wise.  Unlike Honda’s last round of EV trend-setting EV concepts—including the Honda E that resulted, and the Honda Sports EV coupe that wasn’t built—neither of these models appear to tap into retro influences…

Electric vans are one of the keys to Kia’s future. Bosch looks at automatically charging EVs while they’re parked. And Hyundai is setting the bar high for hydrogen. This and more, here at Green Car Reports.  At CES in Las Vegas, Hyundai outlined its work to establish a “hydrogen value chain,” with a hydrogen vision that extends well beyond cars, trucks, and buses—to trains, ships, generators, steelmaking, robotics, air mobility, and more. To make enough hydrogen, it plans megawatt-scale electrolyzers plus Waste-to-Hydrogen and Plastic-to-Hydrogen innovations.  Kia also at CES revealed a new global family of PBV concept electric vans that…
